Making a Difference by Rallying the Business.
One of Iowa’s largest automotive groups, Ken Garff, with its seven dealerships including the Dewey and Stew Hansen companies, have joined the fleet of Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT), committing to helping make Iowa a trafficking-free state. With nearly 500 employees, the Ken Garff Auto Group has rallied behind community involvement and giving back to those they serve through charitable giving and volunteer support.
This past April, Ken Garff auto groups ramped up their commitment by fighting human trafficking in Iowa. These dealerships raised funds to purchase a large SUV for a local human trafficking organization for its use in rescuing woman escaping from traffickers. Through the leadership and facilitation of Stop Trafficking Now.US, a mission of the Community Foundation for Inspired Giving, the donated vehicle replaced the organization’s antiquated one that had been used to rescue over 100 women since 2005.
Moreover, 50 of Ken Garff’s dealership managers participated in a company-wide human trafficking awareness training sponsored by Stop Trafficking Now.US. The commitment and actions of these organizations not only exemplifies the investment made to establishing a safer state, but also showcases the kind of collaboration that is possible within and between businesses, which is critically needed to help stop trafficking in Iowa.
Kudos to Ken Garff, Stew Hansen Automotive Group, Dewey Dealership Group, Stop Trafficking Now.US, and the Community Foundation for Inspired Giving for being prime examples for Iowa businesses on how they can 'Learn Something' and 'Do Something', and what can be accomplished when IBAT members work together.
